Telehealth is a video (virtual) consultation.  We use Telehealth appointments during Covid19 lockdown level 3 and 4 when we must close our clinic doors. Our goal over lockdown is to keep you on track with your rehabilitation and not let you regress.  

Our physiotherapists at Alpine Physiotherapy will take a full injury history – did you know we get the most important information by listening to you? Even the big injuries like ACL tears we can usually tell from how you did it (usually twisting your knee), what did you hear/feel (a pop in your knee), how much did your knee swell and how quickly did it swell? By the end of taking your history we have developed a working diagnosis and use tests help confirm what we think.

We would then usually assess objective measures to confirm our diagnosis. We will get you to perform simple tests yourself or can even get someone in your bubble to help.

We can then accurately assess your movement patterns, joint range of movement, posture and aggravating activities via video.  If indicated we can still refer to Sports Doctors to organise scans when out of lockdown. We can also refer you on to get an x-ray in lockdown if needed.

Your physiotherapist will then give you a comprehensive home programme to help relieve pain, increase joint range of movement and begin strengthening.  You’ll be surprised about what you can use around the house to help with your rehab – tennis balls and pastry rollers instead of trigger balls/foam rollers.  Tinned cans, drink bottles or even the kids as weights.

Most of the ACL and knee rehab we do is gym based so getting a home programme is essential to not loose all the strength you’ve worked so hard to get.

At level 3 and 4 we provide ACC Telehealth appointments free of charge and Private appointments at a discounted rate.
