Classes Run exclusively by Physio’s with a passion for movement

Our physio-led reformer pilates classes are run over the school term.

We are the only clinic in town to offer classes run exclusively by physiotherapists who have also trained in pilates. Our classes have a maximum of 5 people per class to ensure your form is correct.

Having an 10 week term structure allows us to create personalised, tailored and progressive classes, to ensure your exercises and strength improve at an appropriate pace. Pre-natal and Mums & Bubs are run over a 5 week term.

This aligns with our ethos of providing evidence based practice and as physio’s we know that gradually increasing load and difficulty is the best way to get results and reduce pain.

You can attend makeup classes within the term – just make sure to inform us of any planned absences as early as possible.

What is Reformer Pilates?

Reformer pilates is designed to reduce pain, target your core, increase strength and improve your mobility/flexibility through Pilates based exercises.

Reformers are spring loaded resistance Pilates machines which enable us to really ramp up or down the resistance to suit your needs.  We also use weights, rollers, ova balls, swiss balls and Pilates rings to keep your session fresh and exciting.

If you have never done Pilates before we will then take you through some basic Pilates exercises, coaching you around breathing and muscle activation.

Who benefits from Reformer Pilates?

We cater for beginners to experts, tradies to desk jockeys, the injured clients to the ones who need strength to back up their extreme sports habits.

We provide group classes and 1:1 sessions with a Pilates trained physiotherapist. This means however sore or damaged you feel we can still get you moving without fear of injury.

Historically pilates has been used extensively with people who have lower back pain with fantastic lasting results. We encourage gentle strengthening and mobility to get people moving pain free!

Surprisingly our biggest converts are younger males who are physically very strong but lack the core stability and balance to continue their active lifestyle without injury and back pain.

If you have a complex injury history or feel you would benefit from a 1:1 class to begin with please email us to arrange a time.  A 1:1 session involves a thorough assessment of your movement patterns, injury and pain history, core activation and breathing assessment.

HERE FOR YOU

beginner & intermediate pilates

Want to get stronger, move better and build your confidence on the Reformer? Whether you’re completely new to Pilates or ready to take things up a notch, our Beginner & Intermediate classes are designed to meet you where you’re at.

Our Beginner classes are perfect if you’re new to Reformer Pilates, getting back into exercise, or just want to build a solid foundation. We’ll focus on learning the equipment, getting your technique right and building strength, control and confidence.

Ready for a little more? Our Intermediate classes will challenge you with more complex movements, increased resistance and progressions as your strength and control develop.

With just 5 people per class, our physio-led sessions are small, supportive and personalised to you. We can adjust and modify exercises throughout the class to suit your body, goals and any injuries or limitations.

pre-natal pilates

Designed by physios with the ever-changing female body in mind.

We’ll strengthen your glutes, core and surrounding muscles to support your pelvis and prepare your body for pregnancy, birth and beyond. Do not expect this class to be easy however we will tailor it to your needs.

If you have specific advice from your Women’s Health Physiotherapist, Obstetrician or GP, please email us before joining so we can adapt the exercises accordingly.

Mums & Bubs pilates

Want to get back into exercise post baby but don’t know where to begin? Then this class is for you! We will get your core, glutes and pelvic floor back working again. If your baby arrived earth side via C-sec then please wait 6 weeks before joining this class.

Non crawlers only please! We don’t like little fingers anywhere near the springs.

If you have specific advice from your Women’s Health Physiotherapist, Obstetrician or GP, please email us before joining so we can adapt the exercises accordingly.

Classes are held by Sarah or Denise (physio’s, mums, trained in pre/post natal pilates and both have trained in internal pelvic assessments).

COMMON QUESTIONS:

When can I join? If you have had a c-sec then please wait at least 6 weeks. If you have had a vaginal birth then you can join whenever you feel ready.

What if I have a prolapse? As long as you have been assessed by a Women’s Health Physio then you can join anytime – we will make sure we are working within your restrictions.

What do you work on? We work a lot on core and glutes in the beginning then as you progress we work in standing and progress to jumping. We are strict with timelines to allow your pelvic floor to properly heal.

What if I have a sore back? We can help! We do a lot of mobility and strength work to help your aching back from poor feeding positions.
